At its core, Ayurveda is about celebrating the truth of Who We Are.
Hey everyone! My practice has gotten so busy that I have not had much time for blogging.
I am currently leading a group of beautiful Souls through my Purge Your Pitta Summer Cleanse. So far, this Pitta cleanse for me has been about clearing old emotional blocks and patterns using EFT, taking time to be still and be okay with not doing a "productive" activity, and (somewhat ironically) taking breaks from electronic media.
The nature of Pitta shares the quality of motion with Vata, so both of these doshas are unbalanced by constant physical and mental activity. When we are engaged too much with electronic media, our minds become addicted to it because they're constantly being stimulated. That stimulation is creating constant motion in our nervous system that is happening at a much higher rate than when we are meditating or engaging in a focused activity.
For me, I notice the electronic addiction when I begin to feel the urge to check my email between each patient, or I notice myself reaching for the phone during every minute of down-time because I'm falling prey to that impulse to stay on top of things, constantly remaining connected and productive. When I see myself beginning that pattern, I know I have to take a break and get back to checking my messages and email only at designated times: once in the morning and once evening.
When Pitta becomes too high in the mind, we constantly feel as though we are not "doing enough". We over-schedule ourselves as we strive for perfection and the desire to be seen (by ourselves and others) as productive, successful individuals. When we take time to be still in mind and body, we can detach from that striving and realize that we are perfect just as we are. It's quite beautiful. 🙏🏻
